What Is A Microscope And Who Discovered Cell With It? What did it lead us to?

WHAT IS A MICROSCOPE AND WHO DISCOVERED CELL WITH IT?

Well this question might seem a bit out of place in this high tech world, and you might think that even a fifth  grade student knows the answer to this question! Still we think that some fellows who are really curious to know the details about it ,then they are at the right place!

WHO DISCOVERED THE CELL?

The history of cell actually dates back to 1655.In 1655 an Englishman named Robert Hooke discovered some compartment  like structures in a cork piece which were addressed by him to be like cells. In fact what he actually saw were not the cells but were the structures merely made up of the cell walls with the living part i.e., the protoplasm withered off with time.Robert discovered these cells with the help of a better version of the old microscope. His version of microscope actually had two sets of lenses.

HOWEVER THE QUESTION THAT ARISES IS -

 WHO DISCOVERED THE MICROSCOPE?

The answer is Zacharias Janssen(1585-1632).Zacharias was actually a spectacle maker who lived in Middleburg and was Dutch in origin. He was known to be the original inventor of the microscope praticularly the compound microscope. He was claimed to have invented the microscope between the period 1590-1618.However no direct proof or evidence has ever been collected that solely confirm that Zacharias was truly the first and foremost inventor of microscope.

WHERE HAVE THESE DISCOVERIES LED US TO?

Well these discoveries have put up a major impact on our society and even our own individual health as well.Today all the diseases we know that are caused by microorganisms have only been confirmed through thorough investigations involving the use microscopes. If microscope had not been invented in the past, today we could have never known that the human RBC is actually biconcave in shape. Many new microbes are identified each day and are put under  classification based upon their morphology as well. Then again the morphology is studied by the use of microscope. Now coming back to the discovery of cell.It is the discovery of cell by Robert Hook that rose the interest among scientists for the anatomy. This made the scientists realize that our body could be made up of some specific units or building blocks and that cells might play an important role in the functioning of of an organism.
