Magic bullet is actually used under chemotherapy in Microbiology. Chemotherapy is a procedure which involves the use of chemicals to treat a disease.It is a most commonly used procedure for cancer too.Chemotherapy also involves the use of synthetic drugs which are actually the drugs prepared from chemicals available in the laboratory.Today we are going to know about the magic bullet which played great role in microbiology.
Magic Bullet came into existence in 1910.It was developed by Paul Ehrlich who was a German physician.Paul was a great medical student and being very good in his field , he came up with the idea of a magic bullet which he thought could kill the invading microbe and in turn do not cause any harm to the host organism magically.After conducting hundreds of tests he was successfully able to find a compound called SALVARSON. HE named it as magic bullet.The compund salvarson was named so because it was an arsenic derivative and delivered protection from syphilis(Sexually Transmitted Disease).
This year (1910) was thought to be very crucial year towards the development of various cures for various diseases.It lead to the scientific advancements and made scientists develop several synthetic drugs.The search for a Magical Bullet went for a long time ,however it proved to be useful against only one type of microorganisms.Various other types of antibiotics such as penicillin were also invented over the course of time which proved extremely helpful towards humans throughout history, even during the time of world war.
