HOW CRISPR - A GENE EDITING TECHNOLOGY CAN REALLY CHANGE THE WORLD IN UPCOMING YEARS|SCIBERR|2019
CRISPR technology derives its name from a group of genomes known as clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats.This is actually a group of family of DNA sequences which are found in the genomes of prokaryotic organisms for ex., bacteria.These sequences are basically retrieved from DNA fragments from viruses that had infected the prokaryote in the past and are used to identify and eliminate DNA from similar viruses during further infections.
Though the existence of this technology dates back to 1987,yet the discovery of these genomes seems to occur independently in the world as the first ever description of these genomes was given by Osaka University Researcher Yoshizumi Ishino and his colleagues in 1987.In 1993 the researchers from Netherlands also published two articles regarding the same.
However this technology is now being used for carrying out new sorts of experiments ,which seem to prove a leap forward in time through science.Though this might sound a bit mind wobbling , yet another experiment carried out recently on Brown Anoles by researchers prove that the future of science is even more brighter . The experiment conducted by scientists reveals how a gene which has been edited can bring out the desired result in the new offspring of the subject animal.The gene named tyrosinase was the major gene which was altered during the whole series of experiments.
This further leads us to think about how we can take advantage of this technology to produce some better results in various fields such as agriculture, human health .
Though there's along way to go for human experiments involving CRISPR technolgy, Agricultural field seems to be a blooming sector for this technology , as many problems could be solved using this technology in future.
Though there are a wide range of speculations regarding this technology yet we do believe that this might completely change the future of earth and build up a whole new reality.This would help in solving many major health related problems all over the world.
